Snappy: A Display Font That Adds Personality to Your Brand

A Fresh Start for a Café’s Menu Design

I recently helped a local café refresh their menu design. They wanted something that felt more aligned with their cozy, modern vibe but still looked professional. We started by exploring different fonts and quickly landed on Snappy—a display font that brought a playful energy to the layout without sacrificing clarity.

Snappy isn’t your average font. It’s got character. With its bold, slightly rounded edges and confident spacing, it stands out while remaining easy to read. It’s the kind of typeface that works well in branding where visual impact matters—like on menus, packaging, or digital banners.

Why Typography Matters for Small Businesses

Typography is more than just choosing a pretty font. It’s about how your brand communicates visually. The right typeface can make your business feel trustworthy, modern, or fun—depending on what you want to convey.

Snappy leans into the “fun” category. It’s a display font, which means it’s best suited for headlines, short phrases, or accent text rather than long paragraphs. For a café menu, that’s perfect. It made the dish names pop, guiding the customer’s eye naturally through the page.

Real-World Uses for Snappy in Branding

We used Snappy across several customer-facing materials: the printed menu, social media graphics, and even the thank-you cards handed out with each order. Here’s how it performed:

It also worked well on product labels for a new line of coffee blends. The font’s clean curves and open spacing made the text easy to read, even at small sizes.

Pairing Snappy with Supporting Fonts

While Snappy shines as a headline font, it needs a good supporting typeface to balance the design. We paired it with a clean sans serif for body text. This combination gave the menu a modern, easy-to-read layout while keeping the brand personality intact.

For a more elegant look, Snappy could pair with a classic serif font. Or, if you’re going for a handcrafted feel, try it with a light script font. The key is to keep the supporting fonts simple so Snappy can take center stage.

Things to Consider When Using Snappy

Before using Snappy in your own branding, check the font package for included styles and file formats. We used both the regular and bold weights to create visual hierarchy on the menu. Also, make sure to test it at different sizes—especially if you’re printing on small labels or using it on mobile screens.

Commercial font licensing is another important detail. Snappy is a premium font, which means it often comes with better support and more features than free alternatives. Just be sure the license allows for your intended use—whether that’s packaging, digital ads, or merchandise.

Lastly, don’t forget to test readability. Snappy works best in short bursts. It’s not ideal for long paragraphs or fine print. But for headlines, logos, and branding accents, it brings a fresh, modern energy that’s hard to beat.
